A Hybrid working model

Now offices are fully open we have embraced a hybrid working model, which allows our employees to split their time between the office and other locations, something we hope will provide everyone much more flexibility to their working week. Department Summary

The Hogarth Technology Team are responsible for a wide range of hardware and software solutions. Spanning Private and Public Cloud Infrastructure, across self-managed, high-speed networks to transfer large amounts of production content, the Technology services provided need to be ‘always-on’ and deliver continuous transformation of our global estate. Our highly skilled team of engineers, administrators, analysts, developers and project managers are responsible for a wide array of bespoke and industry standard tools, providing our clients with the most efficient and innovative technologies in our sector

What does a Lead Production Technology Engineer do at Hogarth?

The Lead Production Technology Engineer is responsible for the successful running of the EU Elements support team by providing leadership and mentoring to the Elements Engineers and Technicians.  You will manage all European Client related projects and be responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of new production environments. You will ensure service levels are maintained and all work is delivered on schedule and on budget.  You will recommend and exploit evolving technologies to drive efficiencies, generate creative value and business opportunities. You will be the key escalation point for the EU Elements support team members.

Reporting lines and key stakeholders

This role reports to the Global Lead Production Technology Engineer.

You will work closely with Hogarth’s Production Engineering, Security & Compliance, Production Workflow, Network and System Administration teams.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the maintenance, support, and upkeep of EU Elements Production Systems within Hogarth.
  • Practical team leadership and mentoring of EU Element Production Support Staff. (grow the team, manage them and support them).
  • Work with EU Operators, Producers and Studio Managers to devise Production and Workflow Solutions and ensure Service Levels are met.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with the client’s teams, to understand their current and future production needs.
  • Working with the local resources, manage the successful deployment of Elements Production Systems in Hogarth Offices in EU.
  • Work with the Global Lead Production Technology Engineer to prepare the annual CapEx and OpEx requirements and maintain a record of purchases against this list.
  • Conduct quarterly internal compliance audits to ensure all users adhere to Hogarth’s and the client’s Security and Compliance standards.
  • Support the Global Lead Production Technology Engineer to ensure standard working practices are documented and followed across EU Elements offices.
  • Act as an escalation point for technical issues, escalating these further where required.
  • Perform Annual reviews / appraisals for team members. Agree their learning and monitor their development progress throughout the year.
  • Setup, test and commission new production workstations and facilities.
  • Analyse and rectify technical faults on equipment and systems.
  • Keep abreast of changing technology by investigating new systems, techniques, and equipment, recommending any solutions that potentially offer efficiencies and/or cost saving.
  • Project planning and scoping alongside Hogarth Senior Management  
  • Logistics management, pack and dispatch IT equipment to teams across Europe.
  • Facilities co-ordination between wider Hogarth teams and the European Elements Studios. Ensuring all resources have the equipment and set up they require to work productively.

 

Requirements

  • Experience in similar role in a media production environment.
  • An in-depth working knowledge of media production processes and services.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Mac OSX and JAMF as well as Networking, File systems, SAN / NAS and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • General "can-do" service attitude.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills and multi-tasking abilities within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with non-technical people face to face or via email.
  • Form good working relationships with the client and internal end users.
  • Effective problem solving, able to recognise root causes and identify ways to overcome them.
  • Have a proactive, flexible approach and actively suggest new ideas.
  • Be able to work independently as well as part a team.
  • A flexible attitude to working out of hours when required.
  • Scripting knowledge is an added benefit
