What does a Junior VFX Project Manager do at Hogarth?
The Junior VFX Project Manager will support the VFX Project Manager on a key client account, assisting with the daily production and delivery of automotive CGI projects for 3D models and configurator assets. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth flow of projects through the studio, learning the full production lifecycle from initial client briefing through to final delivery, and actively contributing to efficient and timely project completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the VFX Project Manager in following established processes to coordinate and traffic CGI projects through all departments.
- Support the VFX Project Manager in the creation of project estimates and timing plans.
- Actively monitor the progress and completion of projects against published timings, highlighting any potential risks or delays to the VFX Project Manager.
- Work collaboratively with the VFX Project Manager, CGI Studio Manager, and CGI Creative Director to support efficient and timely delivery of all project requirements.
- Assist in organizing and documenting client and internal project status meetings, including preparing agendas and capturing meeting notes.
- Support the VFX Project Manager in accurately defining project scopes and contributing to the generation of project estimates.
- Help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Maintain and update internal & client-facing status reports under the guidance of the VFX Project Manager.
- Manage project files and logs according to outlined standards.
- Actively participate in process enhancement discussions, offering insights from daily project support.
- Assist in maintaining documentation for process guidelines and Subject Matter Expert (SME) assignments.
- Develop an understanding of managing projects with varying timelines and complexities.
Requirements:
- 0-2 years of working experience in a project coordination, production assistant, or similar support role, ideally within a creative, CGI, or automotive environment. Relevant internship experience in project management or production is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks for multiple projects.
- A positive and clear communicator, able to collaborate effectively with internal teams and clients.
- A proactive and detail-oriented individual, able to adapt to changing deadlines and briefs, with a willingness to learn problem-solving techniques.
- Familiarity with project management principles and processes, ideally gained through academic studies or prior work experience.
- An interest in CGI production and a basic understanding of its processes is a strong plus.
- Proficiency with PC and Mac operating systems, including Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel for spreadsheets) and Adobe Acrobat.
- A willingness to learn and apply creative problem-solving approaches.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn Project Management systems such as Asana, JIRA, and Trello.
- A keen interest in VFX/CGI software and pipelines (e.g., 3D Model, 3dsMax, Maya, Nuke, Vray, Unreal, Render) from a project management perspective is a plus.
