Hogarth is looking for a Head of Primary Production 

What does a Head of Primary Production do at Hogarth?

The Head of Primary Production is the physical production team and infrastructure leader at Hogarth. This position requires skilled leadership and a proven track record of taking production teams to a new level and guiding them to success. 

The role requires knowledge of managing all technical, creative, and business aspects of physical production, creating any asset, or taking any brief. Candidates are required to work hard to meet internal and external stakeholders’ expectations. They must ensure all deliveries are met while keeping clients happy. This role connects teams (Accounts, Post, Digital, Production Management, and Business Affairs) to obtain successful shoots and deliveries. A higher drive for business and cultivating relationships are valued skills for the role. The Head of Primary Production is also responsible of overviewing the physical infrastructure, they require to know the trends in terms of production technology and be eager to take part of conversations about the future state of the industry such as AI and Virtual Production. 

Duties:

  • Outline and execute the primary production strategy while working cross-functionally with the other members of the leadership team.
  • Select and vet local, regional, and global production partners.
  • Assess and evaluate vendors based on their talent, cost-quality ratio, and ability to deliver simple to high-end production projects.
  • Apply strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills to funnel projects worldwide to the LATAM region.
  • Experience working in different production roles for commercial, experiential, content, and photography projects.
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision and communicate up, down, and laterally to project stakeholders within the agency.
  • Effectively triage and hand over the incoming projects to in-house and third-party producers.
  • Ability to manage teams of producers, external vendors, production coordinators and administrative support.
  • Extensive understanding of production and postproduction workflows.
  • Presentations pitching, showing new ways to approach any project.
  • Experience handling on-camera talent and all sorts of royalties (music, VO, stock images, celebrities, etc.). 
  • New business drive, bringing different internal and external possible dealings through potential clients for the company’s growth, meeting revenue quotes, ascertainable in Finance meetings. 
  • Deep understanding of the evolution of production technologies and resources to assess implementation and commercial viability. 

Requirements:

  • B.A. in Communication, Filmmaking, or related; and/or more than 15 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Finance and business reporting and analytical skills. 
  • Deep knowledge of production briefing, quoting, vendor negotiation, pre-production, and project closure.
  • Experience leading production teams and people skills, both production and client-facing.
  • Ability to interact with clients, creative and account management teams, and production staff.
  • Ability to detect and classify all sorts of production talent.
  • English proficiency (interviews will be conducted in English).
