What does a Global Production Director do at Hogarth?
At Hogarth, the Global Production Director is a senior, Executive Producer+ level role accountable for defining and designing the overarching global production strategy, frameworks, and scalable models for integrated marketing campaigns and "big bet" brand initiatives. This leader establishes the strategic direction, methodologies, and guidelines that enable the efficient, effective, and consistent execution of our creative vision across all tiers, markets, and channels worldwide. Crucially, this role focuses on strategic design, thought leadership, and model development, and is not responsible for day-to-day production delivery or project management. Instead, it empowers regional and local teams by providing the strategic clarity and repeatable models for them to adapt and execute with ownership. The role operates as part of a senior leadership team, partnering with Creative, Business, and Strategy leaders to proactively embed strategic production expertise at the earliest inception phase of major campaigns. It also involves working directly with Content Strategists, Creative Teams, and regional production leads to shape and optimize production approaches from a strategic standpoint, ensuring innovative ideas are viable, scalable, and strategically positioned for execution "through the line." This role represents a critical blend of creative understanding, operational excellence, and a global mindset, focused on optimizing resources and harnessing innovation to deliver exceptional brand impact without compromising creative integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
Global Production Strategy & Frameworks
- Strategy & Model Design:Develop and implement comprehensive, end-to-end production strategies and repeatable models for multi-channel, global marketing campaigns. This includes defining methodologies, resource allocation principles, budget frameworks, and risk mitigation strategies that span Tier 1 origination to Tier 3 market localization
- Global Scalability & Governance:Design production strategies that seamlessly account for global scalability, localization needs (cultural relevance, translation, transcreation), regional nuances, and tiered campaign structures. Establish clear pathways and governance for collaboration and strategic handover to local execution teams
- "Big Bet" Leadership:Provide strategic production leadership for high-profile, complex initiatives, identifying innovative production techniques and partners to guide groundbreaking creative from a strategic perspective
- Strategic Resource Optimization:Develop frameworks for managing complex global production budgets, optimizing spend, and advising on vendor ecosystem strategy (production houses, post-production studios, localization partners) to ensure best-in-class talent, cost-effectiveness, and strategic alignment
Creative & Cross-Market Partnership
- Inception Partnership & Influence:Proactively engage with Creative, Content Strategy, Channel Planning, Account teams, and crucially, regional/local production leads from the earliest stages of campaign development. Provide early production viability assessments and strategic recommendations to influence creative concepts and content strategies, identifying efficiencies and optimal pathways, in close consultation with local teams to ensure practical application
- Strategic Liaison:Act as the central strategic production point of contact, fostering robust relationships with global and divisional Creative, Content Strategy, Account/Client Service, and local production teams, providing strategic guidance and ensuring alignment across diverse stakeholders
- Strategic Clarity & Empowerment:Provide strategic clarity and repeatable models, enabling local and regional teams to take full ownership of execution. This includes advising on the most effective and efficient production approaches for all channels (e.g., TV/OLV, digital, social, print, OOH), ensuring optimal asset creation and adaptation from a strategic viewpoint
Innovation & Capability Building
- Technology & Methodology Identification:Identify and evaluate emerging production technologies (e.g., AI in content creation, virtual production, interactive media) and innovative methodologies to foster efficiency and expanded creative possibilities
- Implementation Partnership:Strategically partner with WPP Open and Hogarth Innovation for the successful piloting and integration of these solutions, ensuring they enhance creative output and operational efficiency across the network
- Knowledge Empowerment & Mentorship:Equip stakeholders, including local producers and divisional leads, with knowledge on production best practices, innovative approaches, and available strategic platforms/tools. Offer guidance and strategic direction to elevate overall production capabilities and expertise across the organization
Requirements:
- A minimum of 12-15+ years of experience in production within a creative agency, production company, or large global brand, with significant time spent in a senior leadership or strategic role
- Proven track record of developing and implementing scalable, global production strategies and operational frameworks for complex, integrated marketing campaigns
- Deep expertise in managing the production lifecycle "through the line," from Tier 1 brand concepts to Tier 3 market adaptations, with a strong understanding of localization and transcreation
- Exceptional financial acumen, with experience developing strategic budget frameworks, optimizing multi-million dollar global spends, and managing vendor ecosystems
- Demonstrated ability to partner with and influence senior-level stakeholders across Creative, Strategy, and Business leadership, acting as a trusted advisor from the initial campaign inception
- A strong creative sensibility paired with an obsession for operational excellence; you must be able to protect the creative vision while engineering the most efficient path to execution
- A global mindset with experience working across multiple regions and a nuanced understanding of cultural and market differences
- A passion for innovation, with a strong awareness of emerging production technologies (AI, virtual production, etc.) and their strategic application
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex strategic ideas into clear, actionable guidance for diverse, cross-functional teams
- Experience in a highly matrixed organization, with a talent for empowering and enabling regional/local teams without direct authority
